Gucci x Currynew 90x90 Scarf Illustration Project
2025
client: Gucci
I was very honored to be invited by Gucci, as one of nine artists from around the world, to reinterpret some of the brand’s most iconic scarf motifs—including Flora, Fauna, Equestrian, and the GG Monogram. To me, this felt like a process of getting closer to the classics and paying tribute to them through a “style translation” approach.
A contemporary tribute to Gucci’s silk legacy, the 90 x 90 project invites nine visionary artists to reinterpret five enduring themes—Flora, fauna, nautical, equestrian, and the GG Monogram.
Unlike many commercial illustration projects I’ve worked on before, Gucci gave me tremendous creative freedom this time. That also offered me a rare opportunity to deeply reflect on and refine my own visual language. It’s also my first time creating artwork such an iconic product. Since the scarf is meant to be worn, folded, and interacted with, I put a lot of thought into the details, hoping that every visible part of the design would be legible and meaningful.
